Do not use essential oils undiluted on the skin
Always do a patch test on the skin to test for allergic reactions before using an essential oil for the first time. Dilute the oil then place a small amount on the forearm or inside your elbow and cover. Wait for a day to make sure there is no reaction.
Do not overdo the use of essential oils. Use the smallest amount that will give you the effect you need.
Some essential oils including, pennyroyal, wormwood, onion, camphor, wintergreen, horseradish, bitter almond and sassafras should not be used except by qualified aromatherapists.
Never ingest any essential oils.
Never allow children to use essential oils unsupervised. Children may think they are safe to drink as they often smell sweet.
Keep away from naked flames as essential oils are flammable.
