Soothing Body Oil

This is an easy aromatherapy recipe for dry skin. Keep it in the shower and use daily for a lovely soft skin.

Materials

100 ml grapeseed, apricot, acocado or almond Oil
10 drops Juniper
10 drops lemongrass
10 drops fennel
1 plastic bottle with a pump (use an old shower gel or lotion bottle that has been thoroughly cleaned)

Fill the bottle with the oil of your choice. Add the essential oils and mix well.

Use

After showering massage into the skin. The oil has a detoxifying effect and the lovely aroma will last all day.

It has been used for centuries to treat fever in India. It has traditionally been used to cure skin complaints and was burnt to kill germs. Its main constituent, citral, was discovered to be a strong, cleansing antiseptic, and used to deodorize clothing and footwear.

How to tell real plant essential oils vs. synthetic, including Real vs. Synthetic Lavender Essential Oil

1. Greasy or non-penetrating = synthetic or cut with vegetable oil. Real plant essential oils are non-greasy and penetrate the skin within minutes.
2. Shelf life of only months or years = synthetic (fake) or cut with vegetable oil (which goes rancid). Real essential oils last a lifetime as long as they are kept out of direct sunlight / high heat.
3. Substantial evaporation or loss of smell when left open = synthetic (fake). The smell of real plant essential oils comes from aromatic plant alcohols and terpenoids, which are anti-oxidant and by definition, do not get weaker with exposure to oxygen…
